Milennial Change Art

During this period many technological advances took place and influenced the way people say Art, culture and lifestyles.

MINIMALISM

DECONSTRUCTIVISM

It is about reducing to the essential. It uses really basic elements like pure colors, simple geometrical shapes, natural textiles, easy language... It follows the motto of  "less is  more". It searches for an aesthetic that is essential, timeless and purified.

  • Moderate and intellectual aesthetic that was born as a critic to the 80s.

  • Austerity, only the essential.

  • Shapes were elegant, colors are neutral and every unnecessary ornament was eliminated.

  • Simple yet restrained design.

  • White symbolized light.

  • Similar aesthetic to the "essential girl" aesthetic by Calvin Klein.
  • Helmut Lang and Jil Lander
  • Rei Kawakubo introduced color. He introduced Japanese shapes into Occidental Fashion with simple lines and straight cuts.
  • Issey Miyake tried to eliminate sewings and give Fashion a sense of origami.

It takes direct inspiration from deconstructivist works. The main principles are the reversion of the traditional ways, the re-evaluation of what is Fashion/clothing and what it is used for, the rupture with conventionaly and te questioning of beauty standards.

  • Direct influence of the new technologies on textiles. Some have light or laser cuts.

  • New opportunities of mixing Fashion and technology.

  • New shapes, both due to the rigidity they get and the volume needed to apply new technologies.
